October 9, 2012 - Pacific Mayor Cy Sun appears in King County Superior Court with two attorneys in his failed attempt to supress the right of the people to vote.
Judge Inveen ruled against Mayor Sun, finding that his misconduct justifies a recall election.
Our dilemma:
Pacific Mayor Cy Sun was elected on a write-in campaign with only 40 percent of the vote. That means 60 percent of the voters rejected him! That 60 percent was split between two other candidates, so Sun took office on January 1, 2012.
In just a year, Mayor Sun has harassed and unjustly fired city employees without due process. Critical department head positions were left vacant most of the year. As police officers have fled his unreasonable regime, Mayor Sun refuses to replace them.
Lawsuit claims exceed insurance coverage. The insurance company canceled the city's policy. The city council secured a court order forcing the mayor to do his job. The number of police officers is down to almost half of what it was a year ago. Crime is on the rise.
The Washington State Constitution allows the voters correct electorial mistakes through recall elections. In Pacific, a grass-roots committee is working to bring this constitutional right to the voters. Mayor Sun himself said he welcomed the recall. But in reality, he has fought and delayed us every step of the way, supressing voters' rights.
We launched the effort to recall Mayor Sun in July 2012. We are waiting for justice from the Washington State Supreme Court before we can even start contacting voters about the recall. The legal fight is expensive. We need your help to restore the rights of the voters in Pacific. Please read more about our challenge on these pages. Then consider donating to help restore voter's rights in Pacific. Any donation, however small, will help.
Thank you!
